About Our Church

1860

trinity church founded

A Methodist congregation buys a plot of land in Duluth, and establishes a church there. Today, we are still located on this same plot of land purchased in 1860.

1903

CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH BUYS PROPERTY

The property was purchased by the Congregational Church Society after the Methodist congregation declined in numbers.

1945

JOIN THE UNITED METHODIST CONFERENCE

The Methodist Conference purchased the land, and transferred the membership of the Congregational church members to the Methodist Conference.

1957

CHURCH BUILDING DEDICATED

The church building (rebuilt after a storm destroyed it) was dedicated by Rev. Zach Hayes of the Gainesville district.

1972

first female Pastor in ngumc assigned to trinity

Rev. Ruth Rogers was appointed by the Methodist Conference to our church, after petitioning for a congregation for 9 years. She was the first female pastor of the North Georgia Conference (later the North Georgia United Methodist Conference).

2023

DISAFFILIATED FROM THE NORTH GEORGIA UNITED METHODIST CONFERENCE

Due to the direction the UMC’s doctrine was turning, the congregants voted to disaffiliate from the UMC. After a legal battle, and a highly contended voting session at the Annual Conference of the NGUMC, the disaffiliation was successful.

2024

JOIN THE GLOBAL METHODIST CONFERENCE

After disaffiliating from the NGUMC, the congregation chose to join the Global Methodist Church. Rev. Constantine was ordained as an elder-deacon on May 4, 2024. We cannot wait to see what God will do through our church!
